An elegant, china dinner plate with a Royal blue border, gold edging and a gold motif. The plate, measuring 9″ in diameter, was made by Copeland-Spode. It has a gold potter’s mark on the underside.

The Great Central Railway was the name given to Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway in 1897. In the 1923 grouping, it was grouped into the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER).

We don’t know if this plate would have been used by the railways, the Royal Hotel (GCR), Grimsby or the GCR steamships which operated between Grimsby and Esbjerg, Hamburg, Rotterdam and Antwerp.
