‘Tungufoss’ was built in 1953 by Burmeister & Wain’s Maskin & Skibsbyggeri, Copenhagen for Hf. Eimskipafélag Íslands / Icelandic Steamship Company and registered at Reykjavik. In 1974 ‘Tungufoss’ was sold to Orri Navigation Lines, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and renamed ‘Al Medina’. She was wrecked in a storm 150 miles north of Bombay in 1976.

Note: In 1961, MV ‘Tungufoss’ helped to refloat the Grimsby trawler ‘Spurs’ GY.148 when she became grounded off Iceland. The Hull tug ‘Headman’ towed ‘Spurs’ back to Grimsby.
