In memory of Jeff Beedham (1951-2019), West Marsh historian.

Grimsby

From Jeff Beedham’s large collection of photographic prints. This picture shows Jeff proudly showing off his bicycle in the garden of the family home at 56 Ravenspurn Street.

Jeff Beedham was born in 1951. He grew up on Grimsby’s West Marsh. Over the years, Jeff accumulated a wealth of information, photographs, ephemera etc. relating to Grimsby, especially the West Marsh. As a highly respected, local historian, he was frequently invited to contribute articles and photos for Grimsby Telegraph’s “Bygones” supplement. His constant research made him the “font of all knowledge” about local heritage.

Sadly, Jeff Beedham died on 29th April 2019, aged 67. As part of his impressive legacy, Grimsby & Cleethorpes Museum will continue to add many wonderful images from his personal collection of photographs. We hope you enjoy them.

Note: Jeff was also passionate about music and regularly went to see bands at the Winter Gardens, Cleethorpes in the 1970s. A scan of his 1973 Suzi Quatro flyer is on this website.
