A beer bottle with a flip-top or swing-top or lightning toggle or Quillfeldt stopper. The bottle is heavily embossed withTHIS BOTTLE IS THE PROPERTY OF THE WELLOW BREWERY CO. GRIMSBY”. On the base of the bottle is theN & Co. Ltd.” (Nuttall & Co. Ltd., St Helens, Lancs.) makers name with akeyhole’ ortear drop’ makers mark. This dates the bottle to between 1900 and 1913.

The stopper says3 Jotason it. What does this mean? Three Jacks? A number of foreign bars are namedTres Jotas”.

The Wellow Brewery (c1899-c1986) in Wellowgate was brewing beer for almost all of the first half on the twentieth century.
