An original, large, Victorian photograph mounted on board. The photographer is unknown. The workers are probably marine engineers.

The nameUmguza’ is written in chalk on the propellor. It was common practice to do this to avoid confusion. ‘Umguza’ GY.70 was built in 1896 by Cochrane & Cooper, Beverley for the Grimsby Union Steam Fishing Co. Ltd. She was sold to W. Lautburn of Grimsby in 1908.

In 1909, ‘Umguza’ was sold to a company in Russia and renamedRabotnik’. In 1917, she was sold to another company in Russia and renamedVefa’. Later. she operated out of Turkey as a cargo vessel namedStella’ and thenNafia’. In 1936, she was sold to the Turkish Government and, subsequently, to various Turkish companies. Scrapped c1961.

Note: The windows at the back of the building are typical of those seen on other old Grimsby Docks photos.
