Charles Barnett, son of Charles, farmer, and Ann(ie) Elisabeth, was born in Empingham, Rutland on 18th June 1868. By 1901, he was a family and dispensing chemist (by examination) in Cleethorpes and living and working at 1 Alexandra Road on the corner of Sea View Street. He had a wife, Mary, and two daughters who were both born in Cleethorpes in 1898 and 1899.
By 1911, Charles Barnett and family were back in Rutland. Charles had a chemist’s shop in the Market Place at Uppingham, his wife’s birthplace. Their third child, a son, was born in Cleethorpes in 1902 and their fourth child, a daughter, was also born in Cleethorpes in 1904. Their fifth child, a son, was born in Uppingham in 1910. The family had moved from Cleethorpes by 1909 as Charles didn’t appear in the local directory for 1909.
Charles Barnett died in Uppingham in 1942.
