Victorian albumen photograph of Grimsby’s Royal Dock taken from the Dock Tower.
A large, original photograph.
On the west side of the Royal Dock (the right of the photo) is the large export shed of the Great Central Railway. Alexandra Dock is at the top right of the photo. The Dock Offices are at the far end of the dock.
The photo was taken before the ice factory was built (first phase started between 1898-1901). The ‘Great Northern Railway Goods & Grain Warehouse’ has yet to be built (at the end of the 19th century). Victoria Flour Mills have yet to be built (1906).
