Donkey cart rides; Twell of Cleethorpes 1935.

An original photograph. No photographer is given but the picture and type of postcard back strongly suggest that this is the work of J. W. Hardy, photographer. The annotation on the reverse of the photo reads, “Popsy aged 8 years. Cleethorpes 1935”.

H? Twell was, most probably, Henry Twell of 44 Thrunscoe Road, Cleethorpes. He was a brickyard labourer for R. S. Wilkinson & Son, builders and could have supplemented his income by operating the donkey cart rides at weekends.
