Atkin Bros., high class fruit and greengrocery, 35 Kingsway, Cleethorpes c1930s.

Cleethorpes

An original photograph. The shop was on the corner of Kingsway and Haigh Street. It also sold confectionery and tobacco. The shop is now a private residence and looks very different.

We cannot find any information about the Atkin brothers. Did they live outside the area whilst appointing a local manager? White’s ice cream was made in the 1930s by Nelson White and family at their premises in Humberstone Road, Grimsby.

The posters mention: Monster Carnival Gala – with ‘Championships’, ‘Crazy and Stunt Aeroplane Flying’. Sidney Park Gala – featuring ‘The Sheiks’ and the ‘Klu Klux Klan???’ (with an extra ‘l’).
