Christine Little’s father, John Reynolds, was Company Secretary at Tickler’s, the once-famous Grimsby jam and preserves factory. John Reynolds purchased the ‘Nell Gwyn’ statuette. Around the base it says, “Famous for fine Quality”.

Thomas Tickler’s recipe for ‘Nell Gwyn’ marmalade dates back to 1887. Tickler’s recipes still exist today. ‘Nell Gwyn’ marmalade was later sold by Crosbie’s, a company with links to Tickler’s. Tickler’s and Crosbie’s jams were advertised together in a 1928 German newspaper, Lübecker Volksbote.
