Milk deliveries by A. Bye of 8 Victor Street, Grimsby c1905.
An original photograph with no details on the reverse. The photo was taken, we believe, in Victor Street.
A. Bye was most probably Annie Bye (1845-1913), the widowed wife of James Charles Bye (1846-1899), who moved from Barking, Essex to Grimsby and was a fisherman before setting up as a dairyman. By 1901, Annie was a beer retailer with two of her sons, George and Ernest, working as dairymen.
Yet another example of someone moving from Barking to Grimsby. James Charles Bye’s brother and sister moved up to Grimsby too. The extended Bye family lived and worked at properties up and down Victor Street and in nearby streets.
