Kate Judith Gait (née Lemon) was born in Brentwood, Essex in 1837. She was the daughter of Frederick William Lemon and Mary. Albert Gait and Kate Judith Lemon married in Islington, London in 1868. Kate died on 4th January 1927 at the age of 90.

Albert Gait was born in Shepton Mallet, Somerset in 1834. He came up to Grimsby in the 1850s and established his famous and long-running printing and stationery business. He married Kate in 1868 and the couple had 4 boys; Albert Ernest Gait (1869-1945), Harry Joslin Gait (1872-1949 in Canada), Frank Lemon Gait (1874-1934) and John Sidney Gait (1876-1916 KIA). Albert Gait died on 15th May 1907, aged 73. Albert and Kate are buried in Scartho Road Cemetery, Grimsby.

Mrs Gait’s grandson in the photo is Albert Harold Gait (1904-1963) son of Albert Ernest Gait and Lily Agnes Gait of 41 Littlefield Lane, Grimsby.
