Thomas and Sarah Fenwick and family lived in the cottage in the later part of the 19th century. Thomas’ son, William Henry Fenwick, bought the cottage on 6th December 1918 from Charles Francis Manby Nainby of Thorganby Hall. On 17th May 1943, Mary Jane Fenwick sold ‘The Thatch’ to Joyce Mary Fenwick, wife of Horace Raymond Fenwick.The couple were living in the property in 1939.
