The annotation on the back reads as follows: January 1929 Effect of heavy snowfall at Cleethorpes whilst the tide was out. The incoming tide piled up the snow at the high tide mark, where it froze solid. Photograph taken by Keith Hardy, son of J. W. Hardy, photographer, of St. Peter’s Avenue, Cleethorpes. There were similar heavy snowfalls in Jan/Feb, 1940 and 1947, when a similar condition developed. E. H. Trevitt, 16th April, 1974.

Note: (John) Keith Hardy, photographer was born in Sheffield on 5th October 1907. He died on 11th January 1955. He was the son of the famous Cleethorpes photographer John William Hardy (1876-1954). The family moved from Sheffield to Cleethorpes c1910.
