An original, posted, real photographic postcard produced by Herbert Forman of 2 Humber Street, Cleethorpes.
Herbert Foreman was a newsagent and later a newsagent and tobacconist. He was born in Cleethorpes on 4th January 1887. Herbert married Nellie Isitt in Clee on Christmas Day 1912. They had a son, Roy, in 1914. In 1939, Roy and Nellie were living at 32 Nicholson Street, Cleethorpes. Herbert was a special constable as well as a newsagent etc. Herbert died on 31st December 1956. Nellie died in 1978. The couple are buried in Cleethorpes Cemetery. Roy Forman, also a newsagent etc., died in Grimsby in 1989.
The postcard was posted on 3rd August 1915 at North Cotes, Lincs by Percy. The recipient was Miss Annie Ritson, 10 Woodbank Place, Manningham, Bradford, Yorkshire. (Ritsons were still at this address in 1921.) The message reads, “Dear Annie, Just a line to thank you for the tobacco. Hope you are well. With love Percy. PS Please excuse pencil.”
