Marketplace (Market Place), Cleethorpes by Doncaster Rotophoto c1920.

An original, unposted postcard by The Doncaster Rotophoto Co., Ltd. This company produced really sharp photographic postcards from 1918 until 1923.

The view is looking in the direction of the sea. “Cosy Corner”, on the extreme left, is now Fon-A-Car Taxis, 30 Market Street. Some of the wonderful window details can still be seen. Where is says “Garage” is now the rear of Steel’s Corner House (Fish & Chips Restaurant), 10-12 Market Street. Ernie Becketts Fish Restaurant is now on the right of this view at 21 Market Street.

The sign towards the bottom left corner says, “Hot Potato Pies Daily.”
