Salisbury Terrace, Brighowgate, Grimsby
This photograph shows the surviving raised lettering of Salisbury Terrace, situated at the Wellowgate end of Brighowgate. Set high on the wall, the original inscription is partly obscured by the adjoining window frame, which conceals the remaining letters of 'Salisbury' and part of the word 'Terrace'. The terrace is recorded in Grimsby street directories of 1910 and 1922. According to a historical account of old Grimsby, it was built on the site of a former malt-kiln and adjoining house, near the former Malt Shovel public house.
