Old Market Place, Grimsby – W. D. Fenwick

Original miniature watercolour by local artist W. D. Fenwick (Dennis), painted in the 1980s or 1990s.

This finely detailed miniature depicts Old Market Place, Grimsby, with the market hall and its distinctive domed tower at the centre of the view. The surrounding buildings, shops, market stalls, pedestrians and tram are all carefully rendered despite the painting measuring only approximately 12 × 9 cm.

Signed W. D. Fenwick at lower right, the painting is a fine example of Dennis Fenwick's detailed artistic record of Grimsby's historic townscape.
