Built for the Admiralty as the ‘Castle Class’ naval trawler ‘John Britton’ in 1919 by Hall, Russell & Co. Ltd., Aberdeen. Also in 1919, first registered as a fishing trawler named ‘Elsie Jessop’ SH.98 (Scarborough). Registered as ‘Forth Haven’ GN.60 in 1923 whilst at Granton, Scotland. Registered as ‘Courlis’ in 1926 whilst at Arcachon, France. Requisitioned by the French Navy in 1939. Requisitioned by the Kriegsmarine in 1942. Scuttled at Marseilles in 1944, later salvaged and repaired and returned to the owners. Went to Boston Deep Sea Fishing & Trawling as ‘Courlis’ A.51. Broken up in 1963.
