Mill Road Windmill, Cleethorpes, c1930s
This original, small photograph shows the former windmill on Mill Road, Cleethorpes. Built around 1815, the four-sailed mill was an important local landmark and gave Mill Road its name. The mill ceased working in 1909. During the 1920s, its machinery and cap were removed, leaving the brick tower standing. The tower survived into the 1950s before it was demolished. This photograph records the surviving tower during the final decades of its existence, together with the houses, gardens and outbuildings around it. From the Trevitt Collection.
