Cleethorpes

An old print, on thin paper, from a photograph most probably taken by Arthur Clifford Collis (c1865-1920).

This view shows the terrible state Sea Bank Road was in just as work on the sea defences and promenade was commencing. The buildings were in great danger of being lost. The major engineering project resulting in the magnificent, new promenade, known then and now as “Kingsway”, was opened by Lady Henderson on the 12th July, 1906.
