A colourised detail from an original, large photographic print mounted on board. There’s no indication of the name of the photographer. “Waltham” is written on the reverse. This would be when the White family were blacksmiths in Cheapside.

Vickers (1882-) boarder 1911 – George White (1864-) 1911- Joseph Powell (1887-) boarder 1911 – Cyril J. Hunt (1893-) boarder 1921 – George Arthur White (1863-) 1939 – Harry Jackson (1898-1968). Harry took over George White’s business. Harry’s father was blacksmith for Lord Heneage at Hainton.*

There were other blacksmiths in Waltham e.g. in Kirkgate and High Street.
