Grimsby; full of pretty Edwardian ladies! c1910.

Grimsby

An original, used, real photographic, hand-coloured postcard by The Rotary Photographic Co., London (1897-1916) – Rotary Photographic Series. The postcard was sourced from Texas, USA.

The postcard has no stamp or postmark. The recipient was Mr Loftis, c/o Mrs Gee, 18 Lowrey Terrace, South Shore, Blackpool. No.18 is still there. A John Gee lived at the property in 1907 until sometime in 1911.

The message reads, “Dear Dad, Hope you are having a fine holiday tell mother the little ones are getting on fine it is now Sunday morning half past eight only me & Ethel up. Bill in bed till 1 o’clock. I remain Yours Truly. Daughter Mart.”

Note: The Loftis family lived at 144 Grimsby Road, New Cleethorpes. Now the Blundell Park Surgery.

Note: It’s likely that “Bill” was John William Loftis who was a WW1 hero who saved 1,500 lives.
