Charles Frederic(k) Lister was born in Grimsby in 1846. He was the son of William Lister, china dealer and potter, and Hannah Lister. Charles had 4 older siblings. The family lived in Mary Gate, North Street, Grimsby. By 1861, the family were living in Victoria Street West. Charles Married Sarah Jane Halliday in Grimsby in 1877. The couple were living at 5 Abbey Walk, Grimsby in 1881. Charles was a china dealer, like his father.
In 1891, Charles was a china and glass dealer and he and Sarah Jane had moved to 23 Victoria Street, Grimsby, which was between Guy & Smith’s and Silver Street. There were no childen. They were still living and working at the same address in 1911 when Charles was 64 years old.
Sarah Jane Lister of 23 Victoria Street died in 1917. In 1920 Charles married Agnes Halliday, a draper. (Agnes (née Abe / Smith) had been married to Joseph Wilkinson Halliday until he died in 1896. Joseph was Sarah Jane Halliday’s brother.) Charles died in 1926. He had been living at 55 Littlefield Lane. The couple are buried in Scartho Road Cemetery. Agnes Lister of 19 Kingsway, Cleethorpes, died in 1956, aged 87. She is buried in Cleethorpes Cemetery.
