William Garthwaite was an excellent, early Grimsby photographer with studios at 187 Cleethorpe Road (and later at 245 Cleethorpe Road). He appears to have been born in the Brigg area and is 38 years old on the 1881 census return. He was also married in the Brigg area in 1868. He died in Grimsby in 1914, aged 72.
