From the original, copyright, large format negative. A super-sharp image. The photograph was taken at the Corporation Bridge Terminus of the Grimsby & Immingham Electric Railway on the 16th August 1955.
The Grimsby and Immingham Electric Railway was built by the Great Central Railway and opened in 1912. The line was taken over by LNER (BR) in 1923 and, subsequently, became part of British Railways. This light railway was abandoned in 1961.
Note: The lorry on the bridge belongs to Spillers. It also says Spillers on the chimney.
