A real photo postcard by the locally well-known photographer, Harry Shaw, Grant Thorold Studio, 54 Durban Road, Grimsby.
The postcard was posted in Grimsby on July 6th 1908 by Alice and sent to Miss Fanny Wiles (her sister?), Senoya Nook, St Mary’s Lane, Louth. Alice was staying for a while at Ashby, possibly with her mother.
“I wrote about this being my grandfather's boat - he was the engineer. It was first registered as INS 11 and is pronounced Pit-gay-vnay not Pit-gav-enny.”

“My grandfather was the engineer on this drifter when she was fishing out of Lossiemouth and then working as a minesweeper at Scapa Flow from 1915.”
