L.A.S. County Show Decorations, Grimsby 1904.
From the days when the Lincolnshire Show was held in different places around the county. The annual show was, as it is now, organised by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society which was established back in 1869.
The photographer/publisher of this real photographic postcard in unknown. This is the original 1904 unposted postcard. Fifty years ago, it belonged to W.E.R. Hallgarth, the well-known collector of photographs.
This is a direct view of the Old Market Place from Grimsby Railway Station. Did they expect Royalty? Apparently the entrance to the gents toilet was obscured for the event. The corn exchange is on the left, Flottergate is in the distance and J. W. Eason & Co., forwarding agents (later travel agent), is on the right.
