L.A.S. County Show decorations, Grimsby 1904; mock gateway.

Grimsby

From the days when the Lincolnshire Show was held in different places around the county. The annual show was, as it is now, organised by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society which was established back in 1869.

The photographer/publisher of this real photographic postcard in unknown. This is the original 1904 unposted postcard.

It is not yet known exactly where this structure was located. One suggestion is that it was in Pasture Street.

This mock structure is very obviously a copy of the gatehouse of Thornton Abbey (as seen from the inside).

Note: It has now been confirmed that this was in Pasture Street. The road junction is still unknown.
