Built on the Tyne by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson of Wallsend, Turbine Steamer “Immingham” was launched in May 1906. She went into service for the Great Central Railway Co., Grimsby in September 1906. She carried around 400 (3 classes) passengers between Grimsby and Rotterdam.

In 1914, SS Immingham was requisitioned by the Admiralty as an Accommodation Ship, Military Prison and then Stores Carrier (as HSS Immingham). She was lost in 1915 following a night time collision with another British ship in the Mediterranean Sea.
