The Pier Approach, Cleethorpes c1930.
The large poster advertises ‘all-talking’ films at The Theatre Royal, Cleethorpes. The fact that is states that The Theatre Royal uses ‘Western Electric Equipment’ dates the photo to after late-1929/early-1930 when the equipment was installed. The name of the business changed to The Royal Cinema in 1932 so, presumably, the photo dates to before that.
The photographer is Charles N. Jamson working for Empire View Productions, Doncaster. Empire View Productions was one of the companies which sprung up after the closure of Doncaster Rotophoto (1918-1923). Others spin-offs were Donlion (1924_) and Arjay Productions.
