The beautifully decorated programme of events for the visit on Tuesday July 22nd 1879. The details and times are on the back and a plan of Grimsby is on the two centre pages.

The Prince and Princess of Wales (Edward VII and Alexandra of Denmark) were in Grimsby to open the Union Dock and to unveil a statue of Prince Albert who died in 1861. He had laid the foundation stone of the Royal Dock, Great Grimsby on the 18th April 1849, and the Dock was opened on the 27th May 1852.

Today, the statue stands in front of the Dock Offices.
