There is no hostorical basis for Scartho with an ‘e’ beyond a petoition in the 1920s from village residents asking for the spelling to be changed. Post Office denied request on the absence of any historical foundation for the change. May be a case of attempted gentrification by socially mobile folk making move from Grimsby to new properties in rural Scartho.
