‘SS Saurian’ GY.901, Grimsby 1930s.

A large, original 1930s photograph.

Built in 1916 for Henry Croft Baker. Served in WW1 as a minesweeper from 1916 until 1919. Belonged to Sir Thomas Robinson & Son (Grimsby) Ltd. from 1940.

SS Saurian was requisitioned by the Admiralty in June 1940 and became ‘HMT Saurian’, a minesweeper and auxiliary patrol vessel. She was returned in 1945.
