A. A. Clarke, Steam Wagon, Grimsby c1915.
A large (8″ x 6″) photo by Edwin Noble of Grimsby. The outlines have been very skilfully inked in to embolden the image to make it suitable for a publication of the day. This is the only direct scan of this original, unique photograph.
A. A. Clarke and Co. of Grimsby were obviously general carriers. Hewitt Bros. Ltd. is the name on the sacks which contain dried grain. Hewitt Brothers Ltd. were brewers and wine and spirit merchants of Pasture Street and 16 Victoria Street (and at Gainsborough, Doncaster, Hull and Retford).
The maker of the steam wagon was William Allchin Ltd., Globe Works, Northampton, England. Established 1847.
