Grimsby Docks; Cosalt Diesel Fuel Station c1949/1950.
An original, large photograph by F. Huntly Woodcock of Grimsby. Fred Huntly Woodcock was born in London in 1899 and died in Grimsby in 1972.
The picture shows a brand new Icelandic trawler fuelling for the trip to Iceland. The name of the trawler is unknown. It was possibly built by Cook, Welton & Gemmell of Beverley. The fuel is being provided by The Great Grimsby Coal, Salt & Tanning Co. Ltd. (Cosalt.)
The lorry on the right shows the name ‘The Pelters Co. Ltd.’ The company was a manufacturer/producer, founded in 1926, which operated in the hunting and fishing equipment and special products industry. It was based in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.
