G. C. R. Grimsby District Electric Railway paycheck.
A brass paycheck embossed G. C. Rly. GRIMSBY DISTRICT ELECTRIC RAILWAY and stamped No. 81.
Each railway employee had their own number. They would have it issued at the beginning of the week and hand it in at the end of the week and get their wages. Some companies would use them for clocking in time checks. [Thanks Alan.]
The Grimsby & Immingham Electric Railway was an electric light railway, primarily for passenger traffic, linking Grimsby with Immingham. It operated from 1912 until 1961.
Can anyone date this paycheck?
