Cleethorpes

An original, real photographic postcard by an unknown photographer. Please let us know if you have a possible location for this picture.

The postcard was posted in Cleethorpes by Sara on 4th October 1906. The recipient was Mr W. Issac, 30 Clive Street, Grangetown, Cardiff, Wales. The message doesn’t help with the location of the cottages.

William Marshall Isaac was an Evangelist Congregational Minister born in North Thoresby, Lincolnshire. His wife and four of her children were born in Tetney, Lincolnshire. A fifth child was born in Alford, Lincolnshire. One son was also called William, a mineral water box maker. Was the card addressed to him?

In 1921, William Marshall Isaac, aged 68 and a gardener, was back in North Thoresby and was staying with his sister-in-law, Sara Ann Isaac, licenced victualler, at the New Inn North Thoresby.

Note: William Marshall Isaac was the son of Andrew Isaac and Rachel Isaac (née Bacon) who later farmed at Greenland Farm, Station Road, (New) Waltham.
