An original real photographic postcard by ‘JAY EM JAY SERIES GY.’, Jackson & Son, publishers, Grimsby and Bradford. Yje postcard was posted by Edna in Tetney on 10th July 1915. The recipient was her father, Mr W. Chilvers Sto P6, 51 Mess, H.M.S. Inflexible, Co G P 6, London.

HMS Inflexible was an Invincible-class battlecruiser of the British Royal Navy. She bombarded Turkish forts in the Dardanelles in 1915, but was damaged by return fire and also struck a mine and had to be beached. She was later repaired in Malta and Gibraltar. HMS Inflexible had quite a career before and after this event!

Was the recipient of the postcard Wilfred Westoby Chilvers PO. Stkr. who is known to have served on H.M.S. Inflexible.
