Electricity Board Showrooms, Cleethorpes 1953.
The original amateur photograph taken in the year of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The location is on Isaac’s Hill roundabout. Still a well-preserved example of Art Deco architecture and the best surviving in the area. The building is Grade II Listed.
The building, by Leonard Pye, Borough Engineer and Architect for Cleethorpes Borough Electricity Committee, was opened in 1937.
For 22 years, the building has been ‘Twinkles’ fancy dress shop but the business is yet another victim of the the Covid-19 pandemic. (February 2021.)
