Note the roadworks in the background. Behind the roadworks, you can see the original Wheatsheaf public house in Bargate. It was over the road from where The Wheatsheaf is today.

The red arrow points to the entrance of ‘Bargate Avenue’ which was little more than a gateway in the hedge.
