Lord Wolmer GY.917 was built by Smith’s Dock Co. Ltd. in Middlesborough in 1911. She was requisitioned by the Admiralty for use as a minesweeper.

It is believed that the photo shows H.M.T. Lord Wolmer in the Dardanelles. In 1915, she was based in the Aegean Sea and took part in the Gallipoli (Dardanelles) Campaign.

Lord Wolmer was stranded and lost off Iceland in 1943. At that point she belonged to the Boston Deep Sea Fishing & Ice Co. Ltd, Fleetwood.
