‘Ross Revenge’ GY.718 is at the North Wall being repainted ready for sale.

‘Ross Revenge’ GY.718 was built as ‘Freyr’ RE.1 by SeebeckWerft at Bremerhaven in 1960. She was sold to Ross Trawlers in 1963 and was given her Grimsby registration. She was famous for being involved in the Cod Wars and she also holds the record for the biggest catch which sold for a world record price of £75,597.

‘Ross Revenge’ GY.718 served for a while as a diving support ship from 1979 to 1981. In 1981, she was bought again and converted into the Radio Caroline radio ship. M.V. Ross Revenge continued to broadcast until 1990.

Today, Ross Revenge is on the River Blackwater in Essex. Huge efforts are being made to preserve and restore her.
