‘Lord Roberts’ bred by Henry Dudding of Riby Grove 1900.

Northern Lincolnshire

An original Victorian photograph mounted on card. by the respected photographer, Charles William Eastoe of Castle Hill House, Caistor.

Presumably the sale was in Caistor. 260 guineas is equivalent to about £23,500 today. (A huge amount but far more than that is sometimes paid today.)

Henry Dudding Esq. lived at Riby Grange (Riby Grove Farm). He was one of the notable breeders of Lincoln rams who founded the Lincoln Longwool Sheep Breeders Association in 1892.
