Grimsby

An original printed postcard by Albert Gait of Grimsby.

The two buildings behind the cart in New Street still exist today.

On the left of the image, at 102 Victoria Street, is the shop of W. J. Peckham & Co., cycle agent. Next door, at No. 100, is Eastmans Ltd., butcher.

The postcard was sent from Grimsby on 31st August 1906. It was posted to Miss Lupton, c/o Mr Spence, Hambleton, Selby. It simply states, “Will be at station. We dine at uncle’s”.
