Royal visit to Grimsby c1910.

Grimsby

An original, unposted photographic postcard by an unknown photographer.

The carriage is passing along Cleethorpe Road. What is the occasion? It doesn’t appear to be the famous Royal visit on 22nd July 1912.

The location is outside Jackson & Son’s Circulating Library at 145 Cleethorpe Road. Jackson & Son were printers at this address. They produced the famous ‘JAY-EM-JAY (GY.)’ Series postcards. The name was taken from the initials of John Middleton Jackson.

Note: John Middleton Jackson, born 1875, died in Surrey in 1962. His wife, Mary Faith (née Richards), had died there two years earlier.
