‘The Last Car to Grimsby’ c1907.

An original ‘cartoon’ postcard designed for The Cynicus Publishing Co., Ltd., Tayport, Fife. Martin Anderson, (1854 – 1932), better known by his pseudonym Cynicus, was a Scottish artist, political cartoonist, postcard illustrator, and publisher.

The card was posted by Lucy in Grimsby on 9th June 1907. The recipient was Mrs Vicars, 87 Brewerton Road, Lees, Oldham. Lucy was asking if Mrs Vicars was coming to Grimsby during the summer. All was well!

Note: 87 Brewerton Road, Oldham is still there today.
