Entrance to Fish Dock, Grimsby c1908.
An original postcard by Boots Cash Chemists “Pelham” Series (No. 969).
The trawler is ‘Ebro’ GY.743. She was built in 1898 by Cochrane & Cooper Ltd. of Beverley for the Ocean Steam Fishing Co. Ltd. of Grimsby. She was in service during WW1 and was scrapped in 1921.
The structure on the left is the old Lifeboat Station.
The postcard was posted by Jimmie on 19th August 1908. The recipient was Miss A. Neale, 41 Princess Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham. (Relatively modern houses are located in this road in 2021.) Jimmie says that it’s cold and wet in Grimsby and winter coats are required!
