Cleethorpes

An original photograph from 1911. On the reverse is written, “School as it was in 1911. Sea Front”.

Grafton College was an education establishment for young ladies. It took some boarders.

During WW1 (1916-1918), many buildings in Cleethorpes were taken over by The 3rd Battalion Manchester Regiment. Grafton College became the headquarters of the Machine Gunnery School.

The buildings still still exist today but are barely recognisable. An additional floor was added after WW1. William Campbell, moulder, lived here in the 1920s.
