A beautiful example of Victorian needlework by an 11 year old girl from Grimsby.

Lily Stattersfield was born in Grimsby in 1880. The 1881 census shows her as living with her family in Upper Burgess Street. The family were living in Sixhills Street when Lily was busy with the sampler.

Lily’s father, Joshua Stattersfield, was the son of Thomas and Mary Stattersfield of Scartho.
